Hamish Mackie
Director/Principal Researcher
PhD, MSc, BPhEd (hons)
Certified NZ Human Factors Professional (CNZHFE)
Hamish is co-director of Mackie Research and has 23 years of research and consultancy experience in various areas of human factors and ergonomics, with the last 15 years spent mostly in the transport sector. As a certified Human Factors professional, all of Hamish's work has the underlying theme of more human focussed systems and he has a particular focus on road safety and sustainable transport. Working with a range of collaborators, Hamish has worked on a number of important road safety projects (including Safe System course development and the Rural Intersection Active Warning System). Hamish was the project lead for Te Ara Mua – Future Streets, a neighbourhood street retrofit to test sustainable suburban transport infrastructure, and Healthy Future Mobility Solutions, which focussed on healthy options for moving around our towns and cities in the future.
